After getting up at 5am, bush walking/birding all day, a few wines with dinner & we're too tired to look at stars.
I thought you were back to nature people.
We spend all day out enjoying nature & all night getting some shut eye.

I can see the moons around Jupiter with 18 X 50 binoculars but leave them at home as I don't have enough room.
My ancient Canon 5D2 does a reasonable job of night skies. Was fortunate enough to be able to take this shot of Venus. I won't be around for next time!
Nice pic, Whenarewethere. I use Heavens Above mainly and I don't travel with the telescope. It's too awkward to transport safely. But if you are interested, telescopes with GPS, digital star maps and other electronic aids are cheaper than ever and actually make a better starting point than the ultracheap basic scopes.
Hello everyone,
Is anyone into astronomy? If so, what sort of telescope do you have/carry?
I've seen one beginners' scope called a 707AZ2 - ok for the moon I believe (as is my bird spotting scope) but Mars, Venus, Jupiter & Saturn??
We saw a great scope at the Chillagoe Caravan Park a few years ago but it was a bit big for the back of the car.
