GEEZ this forum is a constant source of outstandingly incredible responses to a wide variety of posts.
I often think it just not worth putting up with some of the drivel that comes through the cyberspace (some of it even my own) but every so often one comes that gets me melon shakin' so much I jest gotta keep on here - ya never know what will happen next.
Ya outstanding Iza ... completely outstanding. Ya take the prize - whatever it might be.

Weird reply. As my wife would say "it's a joke George, lighten up".
We all have imaginary friends to help keep our sanity. Christopher Robin had Pooh Bear etc.
I talk to my dog. I imagine he understands me although he doesn't talk back.

Paul, I assume you are asking me to disclose whether or not I believe in some christian God concept and the whether the direction of that belief has something to do with my question about Imaginary Friends.
My comment had nothing to do with Religion, per se. The question should be read literally. It was a paraphrase of a question I was recently asked and a question that has been on my mind for some time. I was recently present at the death of a young girl. She died in much pain and distress from bone cancer. She died in the same moment a group of family and friends knelt in the hospital room praying for a miracle recovery or cure. Since the girl's death, the girl's mother has somewhat blamed herself for the failure to procure a miracle cure on the grounds that she and they should have prayed harder or more or something else. I have tried to suggest to this woman that there is room in her belief system that her god might be much too tied up in big picture things to be concerned with individuals and their minor problems. I figure that if a belief system is not interested in a child's recovery from a cancer, why would it concern itself with someone having a smoke? See, a logical and rational search for understanding in a context of irrational beliefs in Imaginary Friends.
A related train of thought can be found in Nick Cave's song, Into my arms. There is no need to believe in an interventionist God concept to try to make sense of events in the absence of some faith based belief system. People do need some way to understand why their belief system does not work and that explanation does not always have anything to do with a religious orientation.
Rocky's meme stands or falls just where it is and only connects to my question at the top of the thread in that it sparked some thoughts in me. When Rocky decides what my prize is to be, I will pass it along to the mother of the dead girl in my story. Might help.
