I cant believe our justice system , from what I have heard the max penalty for killing wildlife is 5 years and or $20k odd , the guy in gippsland gets 2 weeks in jail and $2k for poisoning over 400 magnificent birds , the guy the bowled over the emu's will get a smack on the fingers more than likely , pathetic !

A token slap on the wrist, not really a deterrent for future offenders.
Pathetic when you think of it, but hey, that's modern life these days.

Yes it is sad that the penalties for most crimes are very lenient.
If a govt of any persuasion actually built more prisons then we may find that the decisions on the penalties handed out for lesser crimes might change. Unfortunately our prisons have been turned into an industry through privatisation and this coupled with the do gooders that insist that each prisoner have televisions smart phones internet on computer and are fed better than most of our aged in aged care homes then nothing will change.
Our prisons on the whole are generally full which unfortunately for the community is a perfect business example.
