what size SD card do you generally use in your dash cams? Thanks for all and any info.

Bigger the better,i would say 32gb minimum . Just check the spec on your dashcam as it may have an upper limit that it can handle

Wow Outlaw40....you just saved me $$. Our device has a max 32gb card!!! I was just about to order a 200 card but something told me to check with the nomads!!! Thank you very much.

Unless you want to use it for general photography then you are only interested in the last (say) two minutes of video and any current card will store that.

I use 64gb in my two dash cams. That allows me about 15hrs or two long-ish days driving before it cycles. Sometimes it's handy to look the day after. It's overkill on one vehicle though.

I run 16g in mine and the footage is 4k. So a very high resolution which means big files.
As Mike said, they will loop back over the oldest footage and just keep going.
If you have an accident it may save that file after noticing an impact (newer models) or you will need to stop it to remove the card as to avoid recording over it. So a slightly larger card may offer you some extra time before its written over, if you decide you needed it a few days later.
If I plan on using the footage from it for other uses (creative purposes) then I stick a 32 - 64g in depending on my needs.

I got one off ebay with the camera , a Samsung Evo ? from memory.... anyway it wouldn't format/ work in the Cam , so l ended up getting a 64 gig from HD , lifetime warranty ( wasn't cheap but l was on the road and no dash Cam operating ! ) Straight away it formatted and went to work and hasn't missed a beat since , so l can only assume that the Samsung was either a fake or a dud .... will deal with it when l get home :)

I've bought a lot of SD cards in my time and no longer bother with getting them off eBay - too many were hacked to show much greater space than they actually had, failed within a week or two or were just DOA. I now just buy from the cheapest retail store - OfficeWorks/JB HiFi or whoever.

Because my third vehicle barely leaves my house.
Secure Digital card. Read through the salient points on that page and become enlightened. SD cards mostly are only up to 2 GB. if you want more then you need a SDHC, SDXC or SDUC card. Older devices will not accommodate the larger cards. I nearly fell into that trap and purchase a larger card a few years ago when I wanted more than 2 GB in my camera.
