Peter and I retired earlier this year and are in the throes of buying our first caravan. We are buying a 20.6 Jayco Journey traveller and need advice on a tow vehicle. Thinking of the Ford Everest Ambiente. Any advice would be welcome please.
Cheers

Welcome to the gang Liz and Peter, enjoy here and out in the playground.
I keep out of what tugs, as everyone is different. That said, make sure your chosen tug can tow the weights of the CV with weight in the tug to spare. Don't exceed any listed weights on the tug OR aluminium tent for that matter. VERY important!
Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

Thanks for replying so quickly . Going on the info we have, we should have about 400 spare. Was checking if anyone was using a Ford Everest to tow.

G'day Liz and Pete (aka Liz52) and welcome to the forum. Don't forget to try the two ongoing games here - 'Who is This' in the 'I Digress' section and 'Pick this Place' in the 'General' Section - a great source to find new places to visit. As to the Everest - no idea, we have a Holden Colorado. The important thing is to check all your weights work as Dougwe has already stated - and do the sums yourself, don't trust the dealer. If you havn't already towed something large I would also recommend a towing course.

Thanks for the advice. Will definitely do the sums again. Maybe the van dealer could help??? Have heard about the courses you can take. Peter is a semi driver so he thought he should be fine.

its a big welcome to the forum from us, as for advice on an appropriate tug I prefer not to, but extensive research will help you to make the right decision and most vehicle types have owners forums which I have found helpful in the past and sites like drive.com and carsales.com do have reviews. I dont know if they have changed it in recent times but I thought the fuel tank size was a bit small in the Everest especially when towing worth checking.
good luck in your search and we hope you enjoy your time with us and out in the big playground.
