For those who have not been to that area, there is a free camp, with toilets, but no water about 30 Ks west
The free camp is situated near the junction of the Victoria Hwy, and the Great Northern Hwy

Gday...
Reading the article seems to indicate that the council are more than willing to entertain an appeal from MR Harvey ...
She (a spokeswomen for Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley) pointed to the local Caravan Parks and Camping Grounds Act 1995 which states that, when camping at a spot other than at caravan park or camping ground, a person could for up to 24 consecutive hours in a caravan or other vehicle stop on a road reserve in an emergency "unless to do so would cause a hazard to other road users or contravene any other written law with respect to the use of the road reserve". Following discussions about the fine, Shire president David Menzel told the ABC Mr Harvey had a good case for an appeal. He said at face value, he probably would like to see the fine revoked.
However, not just at Kununurra but all over Straya - park/rest/sleep sensibly and thoughtfully.
Cheers - John

Motor homes are the main offenders as far as ''stealth camping'' is concerned. We're not accusing you of doing it. A lot of councils are right onto them these days.
We live on the beachfront of Port Phillip Bay near a boat launching ramp. They're always trying to stay overnight in the car park.
The local rangers are right onto them. Book, book, book.

Stealing camps B***S***. Resting is not camping within an 24 hours of the day. If someone who was in need of a rest caused an accident the stupid councils should be held responsible. Book, Book = $$$$$$$$`s to councils. Councils do not pay for funerals.

Should be more of it, I enjoy a good free camp but when they park up anywhere they like it gives us all a bad report.

The latest news, is that the council has dropped the matter
Be aware that Kununurra in WA, does not like you to park up, within the boundary of the town

That is great news. Let the greedy caravan park operators drown in their tears.
