Hi All, I am now in my 70's and was warned that travel insurance cost will rise substantially.
We are presently away from home base without good reliable internet, so I thought I would inquire and collect information on the forum.
Will check in a day or two.

Have a chat with Southern Cross Travel Insurance they do a specific "Seniors" cover. I have used their other policies ('cause I'm young! :) ) and found them to offer good cover with helpful service:

Most credit cards carry decent travel insurance providing it is used to purchase the tickets. Suggest you check with your bank. We are with Westpac and we were fully covered

I use 1Cover - never had to claim but always found they answer queries promptly. They provide included excess cover for car rental and provide contact numbers in most major countries. www.1cover.com.au/

We have used Insure and Go for our last few cruises and have had to make a couple of claims for damage to camera and lost glass's.
No problem with the claims. I'm not 70 yet but do have a couple of health problems and when declaring them I just paid a slight extra on the cost.
Please read the PDS on policies of different companies as is surprising what is in there. I have blood pressure problems and when asking one company about coverage they said if i was being treated by my GP then ok, but if i was seeing a specialist about it then they would not cover me.

I'm in the same as many with pre-existing issues, Yep credit card insurance is fine if you don't have any pre-existing conditions. We always had credit cards that had Travel insurance for the last 20 years now I've got pre-existing illness outside of their perimeters they won't cover me, please, what ever you do please phone them first, I too am looking for long term travel insurance as I want to travel for an extended period ( 4 months) if anyone has a suggestion from an insurance company that pays it'd be greatly appreciated

Check .. if you pay with Visa ? They have health insurance . I had an asthma issue when in US . They wanted $600 for a $20 puffer here . Visa came to rescue . Btw visa didnt pay $600 ! Two puffs usually gets me fixed ! I dont generally have asthma. Must be dry air on long flights ?

Another one for Insure and Go, I have a long list of pre conditions and find them very competitive and helpful
We are both over 70 and have had no issues with this company.

After a lot of enquires, hints from forum members we have elected to stay with our long time provider. Still one of the round better ones
Travelmore Overseas Insurance has been good to deal with but we have needed to make a claim, touch wood.
