There are a lot of generator knockers about the place but there comes a time when a generator will save your bacon and wallet. At Murchison settlement two days ago the alternator in our cruiser decides toss in the towel. Over 400 ks to mechanical help. With a bit of ingenuity we used our Honda generator and the caravan battery charger to travel to Gascoigne junction over two days,, sitting on the side of the road for a couple of hours at a time to recharge the car batteries. Try doing that with solar panels especially on a no sun day. Help is on the way with 177 ks on the back of a transport tomorrow to Carnarvon at no cost thanks to premium RAA membership. Cheers all. Hi Daz
Glad to hear you got going with a bit of ingenuity !
I carry a spare regulator with brushes for my alternator and know how to fit it, much smaller than a generator !!! Most likely part to wear out and easily changed too.

That's the best reason I have heard to carry a generator so far! Great effort.
