I have just been watching the news and a couple of people talking about the extra $10.00 the average worker will have in their pocket, I understand that we are not supposed to talk about politics so I won't.
I find it more than interesting that most Australians are going to get a tax cut of around $500 per year and the Bank executives as well as our country's leaders are going to get around $7000 with pensioners slipping even further down the totem pole.
Are there many people in our forum who would agree with me that the measly individual change in tax could have been better spent by injecting the mega BILLIONS into areas of desperate need in our communities.
There is a saying that we get the Government we deserve, I wonder what we did so wrong to deserve either of the current two options, neither of which care about anything other than their own pockets and the next term in power and are incapable of answering a simple question, I wear hearing aids and think there are those in Canberra that should too as they always give an answer that does not relate to the question asked especially if its a to the point question.

I totally agree austraveller. Of course "they" earn top dollar so this new system benefits them.... Not sure that the average aussi understands what has just occurred and probably won't until it affects them. Both parties are wrong as this country just can't afford any more tax cuts.

I would have much preferred to just give the Company tax system a little relief to encourage and protect investment.
The rest of the savings that ""they say"" certainly could have seen us with a new coal fired power station every year or two.
I for the life of me can not comprehend why we are happy to take the Royalties in coal and gas, and of course the taxes the mining companies SHOULD/ MUST/ pay, and not use the resources we have in our back yard.
I for one did not vote for many of the things that we have had forced upon us.
Jay&Dee ... YES IT IS ALL ABOUT MONEY.
I agree with the great K.P. re the way they handle our money.

Could start with reducing the number of demountable classrooms in use throughout the country. If there's any change left over, spend it on extra hospital beds and the staff to look after the occupants!

We need a French revolution. Including the guillotine. Poor performance and you know what.
It is clear that the "trickle up" effect is working nicely.
