It has a 45lt freezer and it's not clear whether that has a separate temperature control but in any event running that at -12C or colder will take a lot of power and, of course, there is still 145lt of fridge.
Bushman quote 48Ah per day at 25C with the fridge at +4C but they don't say what temperature the freezer was at? And, no way, would I run a fridge at +4C, with natural cycling around set-point the fridge temperature will rise too high, +2C is better.
On a 33C day my 60lt chest fridge/freezer set to +2C and -12C consumes around 50Ah I suspect the Bushman will consume more and as it's not a chest you'll loose more cold air each time the door is opened.
Bushman are a capable and quality product but the laws of physics apply and you're going to need a fair bit of power.

I have a Nova Cool, 215ltr, bottom freezer and have been using it for 3 years now in the Pilbara, Kimberlies and Central Australia in quite high temps and works a treat.
They are expensive but good value. Are also designed to be mounted over the wheel arch, as mine is.
Regards.

Hi KMMA
I have a EvaKool 110 litre (12 volt only) upright fridge
It was the only fridge (in my size) which said it would be good for up to about 48ēC
I can confirm that it did not fail in temperatures up to about 44ēC
But...
I did notice that the reason for not failing, was that in the very hot temperature, it was cycling on more than it was cycling off
It uses a bit less than 5 amps per running hour
I have 300 watt of roof solar going through a 20 amp DC/DC solar/engine charger
Hope this info is useful to you

Yep, I have heard that Eva Cool are a good fridge and from your experience it lives up to its reputation.
It is just a bit more expensive then the Bushman :)

At least they provide a more realistic power consumption specification:
They spec 62Ah per day but with the fridge at +2C and a few door openings and warm items being placed in it that'll probably end up being, say, 75Ah per day which is a lot of energy to find - you will struggle, with solar, to do that in Victoria and Tasmania.
I reckon you'll need about 300W of panels and sunshine levels of Qld or the Top End.
Otherwise, my friends who own one tell me Evakool is a good brand and I have no reason to doubt it.
How are you planning to power it and which part of the country will you be in?

Guru,
Powering it with 2x 150w Panels with 2x 100 aH batteries on the end, 30 amp charger.
Do you know anything about the 170lt Thetford 3 way upright ?
I am really having trouble settling on a frig???? :)
We live in Toowoomba, Queensland, but do plan to travel to most parts of Australia, particularly Tasimania :)

If you are buying a three way fridge, 12volt/Gas/240 volt.
You must make sure that it is a climate "T" rated
If it is only a climate "S" or "N" rated, then from my own experience, and talking to others, it may or may not work on gas, in the hot temperatures

Thanks Tony I will ask that question. The caravan I am looking at has a three way std in it. If you had the option, Which way would you go and why? Knowing we live in Queensland. :)

Hi KMMA
If the 3 way fridge was working when I purchased the caravan, then I would use it as is was
Note that some owners swear by their three way fridge, while I could only swear at mine Therefore until you actually use it, you will not know if it is good or bad
If/when it stops working on gas, have a reputable fridge repaired/gas fitter check it out If they find nothing wrong with it, or if the repairs are going to be expensive, then I would buy a 12 volt compressor fridge
I was restricted to the size of fridge, which would fit where the original three way fridge, was removed from
There may or may not be, better brands than what I have, I can only speak from my own experience, of the three way fridge I had, and my current 12 volt compressor fridge
Below is a link to my three way fridge problems, and note that the reputable caravan repair workshop, which utilise gas fitters, (in my home town), gave me an invoice saying that the fridge was working OK
Bushman 12 volt freezer -- excellent
Company back up - second to none
Ditto for Trailblazer.

Hi Joseph...Evakool,Caloundra 12v. When I did all my research,I was told by many that Compressor fridges use only 35% as much power as does a 3 way fridge when it is on 12v.Plus you dont have to worry about running out of gas. I got an Evakool 175 litre 2 door, and it works brilliantly.I know little about watts, amps etc,but the usage meter constantly reads 6w when the fridge is running? Hope this helps.Safe and happy travels to all.Cheers

Thank you for that info, actually when searching I have just spotted a 208lt Evakool frig 12v upright from their Elite range with the freezer on the bottom on drawer set up. These look pretty good
Can anybody give me any feed back on how these fridges preform?
I don't have any experience of this fridge but I suggest you ensure you have the facilities to support its power consumption.
