Are most people aware of how old their tyres on the caravan are?
We brought our van late Feb. and the tyres had approx. 20% tread left.
Last week I was checking the tyre pressures before a short trip away.
Looking on the net for recommended pressure I was reminded about the age of tyres.
When I checked I found they were probably the original tyres, van 2009, as they were 10 years old.
I went out and brought 5 new tyres before leaving.

Yes I did the same thing with our old van.
Fortunately I knew the original owner so I had a full history on the van.
It was a 2008 model and I replaced the tyres in 2015 before doing a big trip.
It pays to be safe than sorry..

Fitting good quality tyres including the spare is good insurance before embarking on a long trip.

Most tyres have a 4 digit code denoting the manufacture date.
e.g. 4214 would indicate that the tyre was manufactured in the 42nd week of 2014.
Hope this helps.

Yes tyres are relatively cheap . Well ? The alternative can be very expensive ! Like most maintenance the costs saved ? Is not really seen . The poroblem itās possibly NOT just one tyre ?? Could be all 5 !!

I brought my second hand motorhome and noticed that the rear tyres and spare, were original
They were OK for a few short trips, as a shake down cruise
I got three new tyres, and the tyre fitter said that they were still OK with plenty of thread
I had to point out their age, and explained that my next trip would be about 14,000 kilometres, and that I did not want tyre problems, away from the main towns
