Adult son was home sick, pouring rain, freezing cold Melbourne - he'd had friends round the night before, and there were lots of bottles and smoking (GUNJA) appliances around.
Knock on the door, two very cold miserable young men, offered to help him find the truth - he invited them in - sat in the lounge, they started their spiel, he politely interrupted them, and offered them a smoke - they declined, left very quickly, he never had another religious organisation knock on the door again.

Dad used to be a mechanic who also worked from home jules47. One day he was having a pig of a time with a gearbox & was under the car when the Mormons knocked at the front door. Mum promptly sent them down the driveway to dad where they sprouted their dialogue. After 3 times of poking his head out & saying "not interested", they kept on going & going.
His next response of "are you f****** deaf" saw them take off rapidly, jotting down the address. Never did have another visit.

I usually ask the caller to hang on while I go turn the TV down then 15mins later go and pick phone up and thay have gone, bugga.
I think I will change to the Lenny way now.

I had a black ban imposed on my address with the JW`s. They do not call at my address any more.
Just make them feel bad without abusing them.
All I say is " if you want me to respect your religion I expect you to respect mine and don`t come here knocking on my door because I don`t do that to you.

A loooong time ago when I was just out on my own about age 17 with no money, they come one day when I was messing around on a guitar. One of them could play, and I couldn't afford lessons, so I struck up a deal. I would listen to him once a week for half an hour and he would give me a half hour lesson for free. I got to learn the guitar enough to play in a band, and earn a few quid.

Be carefull how you Handle them I was very rude to one on the phone once, and was plagued by phone calls that had no one on the other end,this was years ago ,so now I get rid of them in a polite manner...

Lenny is not bad !!! Yes Doug, I follow your method. I usually say can you please hang on for a moment, someone is knocking on the front door. Some of these people are impatient. When I pick up the phone again after only about 30 minutes, they are no longer there..

And now the so called Telstra calls happening again, 2 last week and I yesterday.
Most of us know they are bogus but the gullible will get caught as one girl was very convincing, even offering up a
ID number and a PH No to call.
I needed to call Telstra on another matter and advised them of the calls. She said she could block O/S calls and an 03 number that the bogus supplied.
Be careful.

Ditched my land line a long time ago. Now I have a call blocker on my mobile phone that sends any caller who is not in my contacts list, including anonymous numbers, straight to my voice mail box. Never had any issue with marketers. They never leave a message.

And after Telstra supposed blocking bogus calls, our caller ID to our friends and relations comes up as private. 3 calls to them and they tell us all ok each time.
Wife tried them again today and they advise all back to normal in 48 hrs. Won't hold my breath, been waiting a week to date.

Had these scumbags contact me again today via an 08 number, this time under the guise of NBN Co. Polite Indian gentleman who I strung along for some time by pretending to be a confused old fart.
He remained polite until I told him he had been stung in a Telstra call tracing sting targeting these fake callers, upon which he screamed at me the word "motherf&%ker".
Mission accomplished!
