Does anyone have an update on where John is these days, or what he's up to?
I followed his inspirational travels for years. Unfortunately, I never had the opportunity to meet him in person. He was one of the reasons I regularly visited this forum.

I don't think he's going to be there for much longer. Comments on Wiki Camps suggest the site may soon be closed due to overcrowding and abuse.
Whilst Wiki Camps initially looked like a good idea what it's really doing is putting good sites into the easy reach of dickheads.

I hadn't thought of that aspect re Wiki Camps. That could potentially have a real negative impact on those of us who predominately free camp.
The lack of overcrowding and abuse at remote camps may soon become a thing of the past :(

We all slow down John just you are still enjoying your life to the full and that's what matters.
Best motto for life is to satisfy YOUR desires first and then you can please others. If you are happy in your self then you reflect that on and give enjoyment to others and I have seen you fore fill that as you obviously enjoy your life and give others great vibes so you do your thing mate and keep on keeping on.
Regards
Brian

Second that. AWiki camps entry has wrecked many of our freedom spots.
Sadly these days we need to keep local knowledge to word of mouth, which is rather sad.

FANTASTIC to see you post John
I followed you (as a lurker) right from the very beginning of your travels ... your planning with maps and pen and paper before you even set off.
Stay safe LEGEND

I agree. I used to camp at the river west of Ban Ban springs, then some dope added it to Wikicamps and next thing it's out of bounds
