We are planning to head out for a couple of months up to Caines and through NSW in our Roma 18ft tandem axle. I've never really experienced sway problems but I'm thinking a bit of extra insurance would be handy.
So, I'm thinking of installing a Titan sway controler, has anybody else installed or had experience with one of these units?

Ensure you use a qualified Auto Electrician to install - Sales staff have a bad habit of doing wrong thing - As it can adversely effect braking you have to get it right the first time.
I have had heaps of problems with my ALKO ESC that the manufacturer and Dealer can't resolve.

Well we installed our Titan sway Control system and took off to Queensland and back best thing I could have done. We experienced strong winds, road trains, and having and to make some very quick maouvers to avoid serious situations. The WDH we previously used would not have handled the conditions like this did. It is a simple self install proactive unit which also helps with weight distribution. It is an American design (but I wont hold that against them), heaps of info about it on the net and replacement parts are easily available and it weighs about half of a WHD.
My personal recommendation is they are worth the money.

That's interesting ? I have a new Caravan coming in 6 weeks with the AlKO ESC ordered and ready be installed by the supplier.
What is the problem with your ALKO ESC unit please ? I have to make a decision very soon on weather the ALKO ESC is changed to the
Tow Assist ABS Sway system at a more expensive cost. I have been told both Alko ESC and the Tow Assist ABS systems are very good ???
I would appreciate your info.
I looked at the AILO ESC but decided on a Dexter.
The Dexter brakes each wheel pair individually. That is, the right hand wheels or the left hand wheels whereas the ESC just brakes both sides together.
If the van starts to veer to the right then the right hand brakes are applied whereas the ESC brakes all wheels.
I will be getting it at the end of June.
Kind Regards

Sorry Oldvanman I have been away for several months - too many problems with ALKO system to list - I now have Dexter A much better design with no need to disconnect to do anything other than towing forward in a straight line.
I believe ALKO may have purchased the Dexter System and now use their technology.
Greetings all

Why would you get an auto electrician to install one of these?

Glad you are pleased with the product and getting good results.
I may be getting off topic but this WDH/Sway Control system works well also, and much cheaper.
Heavy duty and solid. USA built. Comes with single sway control.
I added an additional sway control costing $30.00. Both sway controllers use adjustable friction too.
Just mentioning it here in case someone is looking for an alternative to a Titan Fastway.
I believe ALKO may have purchased the Dexter System and now use their technology.
