Been following the AFLW player who was suspended. She complained about AFL players not being suspended for same offence and was taking her case to the Human Right Commision. Equal rights for AFL & AFLW. What was in the fine print that was rarely mentioned in news broadcasts was that AFL players get paid $gazillions so a fine and no suspension. The hip pocket hurts more that the suspension. The AFLW girls get paid a pittance and would never be able to afford the fine hence the suspension. This makes me wonder what happens in VFL and other amateur football.
Maybe the fine should be a % of the players salary.

Agree with RustyD,
Percentage of salary and sponsorship dollars too.
Look at the speeding fines in some Scandanavian countries. Based on Taxable income.
OOOOOOPS. Our lot would be paying sod all as they never pay tax no matter how much they earn.

Rusty up here in north Vic the Suspention of a player hurts very much as I think it would in the AFL the difference as you say for the AfLW and country footy the fine would be devestating where as for most AFL players the fine is of no real consequence to them IMO
We watched this AFLW game and I said to sue at the time that tackle could get her into trouble so I for one am not surprised she got a Suspention ,,,, but as for the discrimination claim me thinks she is playing funny buggers there , and as such should not be upheld .
Just my opinion , others may chose to disagree .

I'm still surprised that they didn't call the women's game WAFL!
Mind you, the girls might have gotten upset when the acronym was said as "waffle".
Mind you, I think that the AFL and NRL are a waste of television transmission power! [runs and hides]
