Hello to all "Grey Nomads", once again I rely on your input while preparing to be " full time Grey Nomads" , can anyone tell us what happen to your driver's licence at renewal time when you don't have a fixed address , same with vehicle and caravan rego.
We are selling out and won't have an home for a while, just our van, can we give one of our children address ? we have one in NSW ( where we live now) and one in QLD
Looking forward to any reply
Thanking you

I will tell you for WA - I don't know how the rest of the states work, but I'll assume they all want the same thing. They won't not take a residential address-despite not having one. I think this is in case of accidents (or if you do something naughty lol). So I use a daughters address (in same state), but insist on all correspondence being sent to email or PO Box. When it came time to get a photo update (once every 10 years in WA), I happened to be in the state, so that was easy enough, however, as I am usually away from there I was prepared (and I've done it for a friend before) to do it remotely. You can just go and get passport photos done and fill out a form and have someone sign it to say it's you etc.
Regos the same, but they email all that happily.

Prior to you leaving your home State have all you correspondence addressed to your Email address - you can get yearly inspections (if required) done interstate by approved mechanics.

Mez - if you do use a QLD address for your rego - you won't have to go over the pits every year. I know you can the inspections done in other states than NSW, if you are registered there, however you may not be anywhere the nearest approved mechanics.
Just my thought.

In Victoria, registration and insurance can be done on line
Insurance - direct debit the bank account
Registration - The month the registration is due go onto the state government web site and follow the link
Licence - I took out a 10 year licence so I have no idea
Hope this helps

We have no home base, but have vehicles registered in Tasmania, Queensland & South Australia, and our licences in Queensland. We get electronic remimders; SA & QLD email us direct, Tassie sends the bill to the bank, who then email us.
