This is my first post on this forum which I have just joined. I am a seasoned vanner having been retired since December 2004 and buying a new Jayco November 2005.
Unfortunately, my loving wife of 44 years, Alison, passed away in 2012 from melanoma. I recently upgraded van to a new pop-top Jayco with full bathroom and I continue to travel with van when I can, solo but accompanied by friends in their van. Looking forward to meeting more Grey Nomads out on the roads.
I'm not a member of any caravanning club and sometimes wonder if I should be. Home (caravan port) is Bracken Ridge, North Brisbane.
Warm regards,
Roy E.

G'day Roy and welcome to the forum. Don't forget to try the two ongoing games here - 'Who is This' in the 'I Digress' section and 'Pick this Place' in the 'General' Section - a great source to find new places to visit. Sounds like you know what you are doing

Hi Roy
To meet other nomads or travellers, you need to go where they go - Greens Lake near Shepparton in Victoria, is one place they gather, as is Wuruma Dam Monto, QLD.
Lots and lots of single travellers, male and female - go t the Solo section on this forum - some good people there.
Get out there more often - most campers, especialy full time travellers - are usually pretty chatty - say, g;day, start conversations, ask where they are going next - etc., - another good place in QLD is Bedford Weir - near Blackwater - good road, 7 day stay, donation, hot shower, flush toilets. 27k out of Blackwater.

Cadpete & Jules47,
Thanks for the quick replies. Is there a place on this forum where members post proposed trips?
I have only two at present I'm planning; May 3 to 7 inc at Girraween NP then on to Glen Innes for some fossicking. Next trip planned Cameron Corner etc for about 6 weeks August/September. In both cases, anyone wanting to join is welcome though campsites at Girraween may be a bit scarce early May.

You could try either the 'Get togethers' section or just post in 'General', even 'Road Conditions' if note sure of the roads etc

Welcome to the gang Roy, enjoy here and out in the playground.
Just keep reading the different sections of the forum and see where fellow members are hanging out and maybe pop them a PM to do a catch up. You could also as well even pop a note in the 'Get togethers' section saying the general area you are hanging out in and someone might pop you a PM to arrange a catch up. I sometimes do all that and have met heaps of members from thsi great forum. If you want time out, ya don't say where ya are. I laso talk to other travellers as I move around, ya can meet some really nice people out there and only a few not so nice people.
Keep Safe on the roads and out there.
