Gday...
I reckon it would be quite full ... however, if he doesn't answer in here, send a PM to aussie_paul as he was there only a week or so ago.
Cheers - John

Hi granty, there is plenty of water in the lake. Well down due to end of summer though and there were no boats operating may be due to being too shallow.
Aussie Paul.

When we camped there we were wondering what all the lighting was at night on the other side of the lake.
It's Ararat Prison!

ABC news this morning. They've installed security cameras in an effort to deter thieves (bbq equipment stolen) and drug dealings. They want to encourage campers.

Gday...
It is a great camp spot ... plenty of shade if that's what ya want ... or can find good sites with plenty of sun access for the solar.
Certainly gets busy on weekends/holidays but even when crowded it tolerable - enough space between campers.
Hot showers, good potable water taps in a few places around the camp, and all good value for a $5/night donation - which far too many avoid.
The water level has certainly fallen since I was there for a couple of weeks 11 months ago.
Cheers - John
