We want to visit Natures Window in Kalbarri in our 2wd Avan Ovation in April, and stay for a few nights. Has anyone been there, and what road should I take to get in there safely.

Not sure about the camping side of it, ? But getting there No Problem, all bituman roads, you could get there in a 1945 Volkswagon if you had one

I don't know what the road into the park is like now, but we were there back in Oct last year and the road was only sealed for the first few K's past the Ranger hut,
from there on the road was in a shocking condition, many many pot holes and rough gravel, it was so bad that is shook a brake pad out of our Patrol,
not a nice feeling when we came to the steep decent just before the Gorge and the pedal hit the floor.
being a National Park, there is no camping allowed, there are three Caravan Parks in Kalbarri, we stayed there and did a day trip out to the gorge.
Just make sure you take a very good fly repellent with you, there are enough flies there to carry you away, !!!

Kalbarri is surrounded by National Park so no free camping . There are 3 C/parks in town all pretty good parks .All roads are bitumen so as stated the 1945 beetle would get there no probs . Not sure but the new platform out over the gorge should be close to being finished by April will be great from all accounts .

We were at Natures Window in August 2017. Road is all new ,all bitumen and perfect for any vehicle. Really pretty Drive with Banksias all the way along. Car park is all completed and shelters, toilets very nice. It is well worth the adventurous walk to the window, but I would suggest taking a hiking pole for stability. Fantastic photo opportunities. Also go to Z Bend, challenging walk but worth it. We stayed at Murchison House by their river, was better than a caravan Pk by far. Enjoy, take plenty of time and dont try to rush it.

+1 for Murchison House Station... unless you want modern showers. You may not like the dirt road either, but the river setting is worth it.

You mean to say that the road out to Nature's Window is now bitumen? That was a terrible corrugated road (when we were there in 2015) and our motorhome did not like it one bit. The night after we drove it, it rained and it was closed the next day because of the mud etc. Cheers.

Hi Wendy,
Now that its a sealed road all the way to Natures Window, I will go there, so many thanks for letting me know. Did you drive there directly from the Highway, or Klbarri ?

Hello Splottboy, re Natures Window. We stayed, as I said ,at Murchison House Station which has a very interesting history. If you Google the name you can read about it. We left from the station for Natures Window, with just a short distance of very good dirt road until the turnoff to the Window, after which it is all beautiful new bitumen, Carpark and beginning of walk to the Window all very easy, then a dirt path and big flat rocks all the way to the Window. My 87 yr old husband did it and we forgot to take out hiking poles! Z bend carpark was not quite completed when we were there, but I think it would be by now. As I said, leave yourself plenty of time to enjoy it, no shops out at the Window so you might take a picnic or at least ,take drinks with you.

Ho Splottboy, we were there September last year. Sealed road all the way to Natures Window and if you are relatively fit it is an easy walk. We also stayed at Murchison House Station. Amenities aren't much but it looks like they are building new ones but lots of interesting history and for $10 you can do a walk around with a muffin and cuppa included at the end. Does have a dirt road in but is kept in good condition, just take your time. Enjoy
