can I change my blue Anderson plug to a gray one on our new caravan to fit our 200 w solar blanket

No, unless you change both. They only fit like colour to like colour. That stops the wrong things from being plugged together.
"200A solar blanket"? ..... I don't think that is what it is?..... Maybe 200W?

Not a bad idea Binza and easy enough to do, just depress the spring clips under the lugs while pushing the cable into the plug, then pull the cable back and out of the plug. The plugs are clearly marked negative and positive but double check you do have them both in the correct way around before plugging them together .... I've seen a few fuses blown or wires smoked by such a simple mistake so it is easy to do so worth double checking. The lug is all the way home in the new plug when the spring clip is located under the locator on the lug, and they only go in one way up so if it doesn't want to slide into place just double check that as well.

Just got onto the forum to ask same question. Tried to test out a friend's DC-DC converter and the connection at the solar end was red. His was too as he had no solar regulator. Didn't fit my grey solar connections. Assumed there was a reason.

Andersons' web site says that each colour is differently keyed to only fit like coloured plugs. However black and grey plugs are identical and will therefore plug into each other. Red are differently keyed to these colours and will not fit. I do not know about the other colours such as blue, green, yellow etc. as I have never had any of these. Next time I order from Anderson I will include these colours just for comparison and let forum members know.

Red appears to be for unregulated connections. Used to connect solar panels to (eg. MPPT) controllers where the solar panel does not have a controller built in.

OK Here we go, coloured Anderson plugs.

Grey and black are identical and can be interconnected.

Red,yellow blue and green are each unique in their keying and will only connect to like colour. They will not connect to black or grey either.

Red is the accepted colour for ESC plugs in the caravan world.

As far as I know there is no designated use for the other three colours, but they would be good if you desired mistake proof connections for other purposes.
