The NSW Government has set up a site where you can check the full range of fuel prices anywhere in NSW, I have used the app and found it to be easy to use and accurate I believe its based on information that the fuel companies have to provide to the Department of Finance, Services & Innovation
you can check on your local area or on a planned trip route.
I just typed into android Play store NSW fuel check and there are a number to choose from but the Govt one is obvious and I am sure someone else will know how to attach the direct link to the site details.

I believe that its through the governments mandatory reporting system so thet when the fuel prices change the Department is automatically notified.

It's easy to post a link why didn't you do it?
Here it is - Fuel Check - I don't find it very helpful, there are very few of the local service stations on it.
I use - Petrol Spy - Fuel Prices & Fuel Watch in Australia - It relies on you and me to update it each time you fuel up so does have some warts. Each update has the nick of the updater and more importantly how long since the update so you can see how fresh the info is. It is also Oz wide.
Absolutely useless as only BP, Shell and Caltex appear to be recorded and even then the price is just a range. The cheapies of Liberty, Metro, United an APCO do not appear. Only place to see the latest price in at the fuel station.

I am not sure what areas you looked at RustD but in the areas I looked at which were in Western Sydney and Blue mountains not only were the independent servos listed but the prices were accurate.
Just rocking up to a servo is one way to over pay if you have a look on the app at the St marys area you will find there is an independant selling fuel below the price of all the others inthe area.
Just trying to help.

I'm in Vic and the fuel pricing is useless. No independents on the websites. And even then not sure how accurate they are. A price range is quoted. Is it the weekly variation in 91 or the start of day for the full range (91 - 98 & diesel)? I just have in mind what is a good price. Last week Caltex etc. was selling diesel at 139.9 and the independents were selling at 123.9 and within view of each other. Yesterday Caltex etc were at 136.9 and the independents were 126.9. It's a confusing and frustrating issue.
In the main street where I used live there were 4 fuel stations within a few hundred yards. Several times a day you'd see one of the owners/franchisees out with the binoculars looking up and down the street to see what the others were charging and change their prices accordingly.

In WA, prices must stay the same for the whole day or are allowed to go down, but not up! Reporting their price daily is mandatory.

Just checked Albury and pretty accurate. BP, as almost always 8 cents dearer. thank goodness ACCC cancelled their buyout of Caltex. No affiliation, but Apco Mate st north Albury are usually the best in Albury. They also have a range of IGA Supermarket including weekly specials. Caravan access is reasonable for up to 21 feet
