A very expensive insurance payout will be coming - they had some beautiful craft moored there -

Houses have to be a certain distance away from each other, right?
Double brick walls all the way to the tiles have to separate flats, right.
Hydrants have to be in the streets for fire brigades, right?
Fire plans have to be in place at public marinas, right?
On the Murray you park e'm all side by side to save room.
No fire fighting equipment at all, and the saving system relies on dragging the houseboats to safety.
Go around saying it was a really bad accident, insurance will pay.

WOW!!! in September 2016 we gave serious thought to hiring one of those big buggers for a family of 17 of us for a Xmas get together, but could not button down everyone Xmas itinerary.
This now has destroyed not only the boats but heaps of peoples Xmas holiday plans.
Q. I gather that these boats were the ones at Echuca?????
Not to mention the$$$ also lost through the tourist trade.

I also looked at hiring one for a family holiday (14) and was told that the maximum capacity was 12 people and I would require 2, so didnt proceed...I am certain that you would have had the same problem JayDee.
incidentally, the fire is under investigation for suspected arson, the outcome of this and the insurance claim will be interesting.
