It's a $2000+ device that takes a fish line out hundreds of metres and returns to the shore using GPS.
Interested in any who have used these here or built similar from cheaper kits

I'd have thought someone would be using a drone for the same purpose but maybe the onshore winds are too strong.
Pretty interesting device.

I've been flying drones for several years. I discussed with the relative who owns the seahorse the idea of using a drone to drop a fishing line a few hundred metres off the beach, that's a doable option as well. The drones are one's I've built so looking for a seahorse kit I guess to see what's involved and whether others have found them useful. We plan to do the big lap and I've not fished in years so looking at all options to get the occasional feed of fresh / self caught fish.

Fully agree about the price, I think it's closer to 3 grand for it. I'm not about to shell out that sort of coin.

The beauty of Drone Fishing is you can fly around & find a school of fish & drop your bait among them.

The best way of fishing from the air is the method I saw used when I was on the HMS Eagle ( air craft carrier )
Fly over in helicopter and locate school of fish the drop a 2lb depth charge in the middle
Scoop the stunned fish up in the helicopter recovery net and bring on to the ship
Fresh Fish and Chips anyone ?
