Hi all, long time listener first time caller. I have borrowed my mother in laws avan sportliner cl. The battery has exploded. We didn't get much of a hand over and were running everything off mains. Obviously I need a new battery but do I need to check the charger for faults or could it be that we cooked it by hooking it up to mains. Also is there a switch to alternate between mains and battery? Does anyone have a link to a owners manual? Thanks in advance.

WElcome to the gang cool perpaya, enjoy here and out in the playground.
I had a Avan 'Sportliner' before what is in my signature. I had to wire up for 12v as Avan had NOTHING in that way for 'off grid' camping. I had a AC Delco 95ah battery and had 6B&S cable running from the horse battery to back of horse to anderson plug. I then had 6B&S cable from front of Avan to a DC-DC Ctek charger then to Battery. 240v was a seperate 240v charger with no switches, it was auto detection. I had a fixed 120w panel that I changed to portable also with 6B&S cable. All worked well for me and no problems at all.

G'day Cool Perpaya and welcome to the forum. Don't forget to try the two ongoing games here - 'Who is This' in the 'I Digress' section and 'Pick this Place' in the 'General' Section - a great source to find new places to visit. Sorry - can't help re the battery as I don't have that brand of van.
