Hi All. Thinking of taking our 24' JB and Cruiser rig to Tamworth next Jan. Appreciate any assistance on : Freecamping? Low cost camping? Showgrounds? How early does one need to arrive to get a spot on the river. I have checked Wili etc but any extra assistance is always appreciated.
Cheers.
lots of options and the earlier you get there the better the choice of spot.
hope that helps

I believe that all the camping within the city limits is controlled by the event organisers. Franks link is the go. If you are looking for free camping outside those limits you will find the free-loaders will have tied tha up well before the event.

When going to the country music festival I have always stay at the rugby league ground. Very convenient and you can walk into town from there but there is also a bus stop right outside the ground.
You can't or couldn't book a spot in the league ground so it's first come first served. I used to get ther about 4 or 5 days before the start.
I hope this helps.

Thanks for the link KFT, until I read it, I was unaware that the North Tamworth Bears Rugby ground, had 80 powered sites, on a first come first served basis
Chris (vanman), you also mention the Rugby ground, how many powered sites would be available when you get there, four of five days before the event
I have now been to the Tamworth Country Music festival, three times in the last four years
I can recommend it, as it has both types of music, Country and Western
I had never been able to find a powered site I had been told by others, that most (if not all) the powered sites were pre booked the year before
I park up at the only (to my knowledge) free camp within the township area This is opposite the airport, and close to the cemetery, about 8 kilometres from town It has toilet, water, table, and a dump point
Each morning I go into town, and park up at a paid car park for the day I also pick up rubbish in that car park, in appreciation that I have a low cost ($4 day), parking place in the town
As far as freeloading goes, I budget to spent $1,000 in Tamworth, over the 10 day festival, this does not include food, and fuel
