My wife and I plan on hitting the big highway over the next few months and have not much experience in caravanning. So we will appreciate all the good advice. Cheers

G'day MgtLat and welcome to the forum. Don't forget to try the two ongoing games here - 'Who is This' in the 'I Digress' section and 'Pick this Place' in the 'General' Section - a great source to find new places to visit.

G'day & welcome too from us Mgtlat.
While the forum is a VERY good source of information (use the "Search" button a lot) based on other members' experiences, the "Law", etc, I'd suggest you go out on a weekend trip to somewhere within hundred kilometres of home to find out any short comings - eg took too much "stuff", didn't take enough, any issues with reversing your van (don't try it out in a large crowded park as there may be many watchers).
And the BIG issue of which you'll find lots of recent posts here & in magazines - check & know your weights (the van & the car).
Travel safe & enjoy all of the new places you visit.

A warm welcome from me also, Mgtlat
We are all different, so we can all see the same thing, from a different angle
The secret to my travelling enjoyment, is that I managed to adapt, to what I had
I had an old caravan, and stayed at free camps
I explained to others that as this was my first trip doing the lap, I wanted to pick their brains
Everyone I met, was helpful, and gave me many tips
I purchased the vehicle in my Avatar, as the boss wanted something so that the cat could walk around, and not be lonely
I have adapted to it
If you ask a specific question on this forum, I am sure that someone will try and give a specific answer
I hope that you will have many happy road trips, ahead of you
