I see the last post on the general Forum about Retirement living made me think. Aussieratraveller have obviously done their homework and have come up with something to suit them very well.
It has made me think that in todays climate it would be best to make any major purchase with a clear thought Upfront.
What are the catches, what is in the fine print and are they trying to" Rip Me Off"
It is a sorry state of affairs that we even need to think along those lines. It also discriminates against all the decent people out there who do the right thing and are not trying to rip you off.
I ask the question about all the car yards and dealers who have sold cars knowing that they are subject to a recall over Dangerous airbags.
The onus is on the dealer who sold the car to fix it. Does that happen. I believe it was 1999 when the problem first arose.
No lead from the Government and the car manufacturers.
The old old adage buyer beware is really raising it's head in todays world.

Re calls are not totally a bad thing ! At least the Manu company is trying to fix or supply a decent vehicle . Thing is the bags that were replaced as in my case with Subaru are 'STILL under' re call or replacement !! It would be better to have the air bag removed !! Still not up to Aust ADR standards !!

On the point of rip offs with Retirement villages I think there is a federal Government enquiry into the whole industry, the one that I was talking about is Church owned and supposedly a not for profit so I suspect no tax paid either.
As mentioned by Aus-Kiwi the Subaru recall is well under way my wife has a Subaru Liberty that required an air bag replacement and we took it to our local Subaru dealer and at the time I asked if the replacement air bag was the same as the one being taken out they told me definitely not and now about 3 weeks later we have received a letter from Subaru Australia stating that the new airbag was a totally different brand and worked differently to the original one.

My wifes 2007 Lancer has recently had air bag replaced under recall (@ no cost) but has received a letter advising that the replacement will need to be replaced within 6 years
