After a long battle with cancer my soulmate and best friend died last month. I have now become a member of the solo crew.

Sorry to hear mate.
I've lost a few good mates to that thing. Not nice.
Keep your head up. It does get easier after a while .
Actually.
If you don't have a pet.
Get one.
the attention and love it requires.
REALLY does help. Even if you don't think so right now.

Thanks all for your words... it is a tough time but it is made easier with the help of family and friends.. and things like this forum have a part in this too.... thanks.
Sue and I spoke often about retirement and what we would do when it came around. Well, it is fast approaching. I am retiring in early 2018 and plan to hit the road and do some of the things we planned...
hopefully I will see you out there somewhere

You;re taking her with you anyway. Regardless.
Just look at it as.
She's up there. and seeing everything YOU do.
Through YOUR eyes and heart.
You haven't really lost her.
She's just gone to a better place where there's NO more pain.
and is waiting for you to join her.
Eventually.
Same as.
We always growing OLDER NEVER OLD.
She's just leading the way to somewhere we ALL go sometime.
You'll see her in the flowers and trees.
Where we all end up. ready for next recycle.
Come from. Go to.

Again, thank you to all for the supportive words. Yes, my Susie will travel with me. Sue loved teddy bears. We thought that a good way to allow her to continue her travels with me was to place some of her ashes inside a teddy bear. I have done this and this will ride along side me as I travel in the years ahead.
Mike.
My wife We married on her b'day (70th) last yr.
after 17 yrs together.
Her first husband died of Leukaemia 6 yrs b4 we met.
She keeps him in an Egyptian vase on cupboard in lounge.
She happy. Me happy.
He was apparently. A VERY nice bloke.
Only thing I'm a little concerned about though, is.
She's got another vase, the same as.
On other side of cupboard. EMPTY.....
hmmm.
Humour WILL come back to you mate.
Just give it a little time.
