I have ended up with several extra 9kg gas bottles. What would they be worth?

Gday...
I am sure you already realise it would be completely influenced by when the 'drop dead' date is on the bottle.
I think the question is a bit like how long is a bit of string.
I reckon anywhere from $10 to $15 ... but if it looks good with still 9 years to go on the date - could be $30-$35. Who knows
Cheers - John

They $35 full. New.
Or were. Last time I bought one.
Best value they have is with top ground off and used as a small Stove.
5 yrs left. MAYBE $5. IF you can find somebody.
You'll never get rich on them.
Local Dump's yards are full of them. By the truckload.

Bunnings are the cheapest and a full new cylinder is $56......new empty one $34. As Bunnings accept out of date cylinders if not dented or rusted there is a market for old ones and I see them regularly on Gumtree and garage sales for $10 - $15 empty. They cannot be dumped at the dump as they pose a risk when compacted so there certainly are not truckloads there.
Stick them on Gumtree for $10 ea and you'll have no problems getting rid of them.
Good Luck.

Post Info TOPIC: Gas bottle worth?
aussie_paul, up here in Carnarvon the local Caltex fuel station has been taking out of date bottles and giving us current bottles with out any questions for the last few years. Every body in our Caravan Pk have updated, and when Caltex charge $27 for a 9 Kg and our park charge $40 it is a WIN / WIN situation.

Hako.
Don't know about where you are.
But up here in Yeppoon. The local dump has pallet loads of them. along with old battery's . TV's and controllers kept in containers to sell off for parts.
The battery's go to scrap for lead. Have full size sorting station out the back too \for ALL materials recycled.
I think they checked for rust. revalved esold. or valve out and scrap yard.
Private tip. Recycles "Everything".
I bought (underhand\illegal?) half a doz Laptop battery's for $10.
6 or 8 18650 Li-Ion battery's inside each. some as new.
They the "modern" double A Battery. At around $23 to 65 each.
IN Aust.
I buy Panasonic\LG, protected for $12 ea. del,. off net.

A quick look on Gumtree showed some for 99c, $1, $5, $20 probably a lot more.
Our Brisbane recycle station/dump takes old Gas bottles & batteries & white goods too.
I like the BBQ idea. Lots on the net to copy from. You might get a bang out of making one.

Swap 'em for a couple of stubbies. Unfortunately they're not worth much these days. A throw away society these days.

Anyone wanting to build a choofer would pay $15 for one, last year I bought 3 brand new when Masters was closing down for $20 each, all made into choofers for friends.

Don't sell those unused bottles, turn them into choofers. They are worth more that way. See this link.
