Agree, not cheap but we don't do it every week. I love to see a good movie on the BIG screen so enjoy it.
I like Reading Cinemas when in Townsville as for me I can get a normal movie for $10 or $12.50 3D. A choctop icecream added still is good going, for me anyway. Village Cimemas are not bad either if you buy tickets on-line.
I worked for Hoyts for 10 years part time when I was younger but Hoyts don't seem to be around where I am these days. Cinemas are so much different these days too.
Enjoy the BIG screen.

The Hervey Bay Boat Club has it's own theatre section, uptodate movies at reduced rates. Most theatres also have 'Cheap Tuesday' movies. It's the eats where they make a killing.

Went to the pictures a few months ago for the first time in about 15 years when a group of youths ran wild until I gave one a thick ear (Watergardens). The recent movie was in a complex in Ballarat Central that was effectively turning one old theatre into a complex of many plus a Gold Pass lounge. We were only is the cattle class but the seats and legroom were brilliant. Wife goes a bit. The advantage of being retired is that you go on a weekday outside of schools and watch a movie where all the others laugh, gasp and cry in the same places as us. Be interesting as a brand new complex opened last week at the other end of town.

Try Gold class for a rip off.
A couple of glasses of just acceptable of wine on arrival, cheap food like selection of dips or nachos et al, and coffee for two usually puts you over $100 or there abouts.
SWMBO takes me with gift cards from the kids & I pay for eats & drinks.
Best to take a large handbag with drinks & eats and just order the coffee. But not as romantic I suppose.
