Hello, I've bought a Ford Transit with Sun Liner home attached and I'm off. Not sure where but I want to see the wild flowers and I'll be happy just riding the road and communing with nature. Single and love it, far too independent for my own good. Hoping to make 60 this Christmas. I'm really looking forward to making new friends and seeing new places and always looking for the next adventure. At present getting everything working and moving between my granny flat in Falcon and my sisters in Rockingham. Is there anyone out there going north say to coronation beach or there about's soon to see the wild flowers? I've been told I can't go alone until I've had a little heart procedure. I just have to get a solar panel and extra battery installed and I'm ready to go.

Hi Jules on the Road - from jules47 - haaahaahaha!
Welcome to the forum, hope you find it a good place to be , ask any questions, join in the fun games Who is This in I Digress, and Pick this Place, in the General forum.
Gets your grey matter working, and sometimes a good laugh.
You are in WA I see - have you checked out the "Get Together" section of forum? There is a meet up at Seabird, about 90k north of Perth, on Indian Ocean Drive - you would be most welcome to come along and meet some fellow travellers, full time, part time, or whatever - great bunch of people. Contact Sue on the Get Togethers section, she will give you the details.

Hi Jules,
welcome.
I am in the Eastern Hills and am good to go to Seabird. My Juggernaught has no shortage of electrical power.
If you want to travel in a concert with me we can get that happening.

G'day Jules and welcome to the forum. Don't forget to try the two ongoing games here - 'Who is This' in the 'I Digress' section and 'Pick this Place' in the 'General' Section - a great source to find new places to visit. I can highly recommend Seabird for novices - went up there a couple of years ago for our first trip away from home :) Very helpful folks, many of which are full timers if that is what you are looking at.

I will be skooting up the coast on my first proper outing in my BIG TRUCK. If they will have me at Sea Gull ? I can easily "ride shotgun" over your conveyance.
You could even "at a Pinch "ride in my cab but once the sun goes down and the villagers emerge with the pitchforks .... best you skoot off with your own swag.

Well I know Politics is off the list of topics to be discussed. I was reminiscing about my childhood and my impoverished Catholic upbringing.
Steeped in Bird watching from from a young age by my father. He was completing his BSc Majoring in Biology. Much of the work was did was in the Litoral Zone or in the environs of a Fish and Chip Shop.
Day encouraged me to point the sea birds out using fullsome gestures since he was hundreds of yards away observing through his Ziess Binoculars. (Fine optics manufactured by the craftsmen of the Maldive Islands. ) It would help if I pointed the direction of the wildlife with my outstretched right hand.
He would train me to shout enthusiastically; "Bridled Tern" "Arctic Skua"
but it was more frequent I could do my Father Proud by flicking my young stem into the sky above my young ruffled hair as my acute blue eyes picked out my avian bro0thers in the skies that rightfully belong to the folk.

Sounds great Jules on the road.
I was given a telescope as a gift a while back and loved it. Used to get away from the city lights and watch the stars. I started to take photos of the moon through the telescope... they were awesome.
Hope your health is holding up.

Hi Jules, and welcome. Nik and I are not quite Mandurah-ites, but regard ourselves as such because we lived in Mandurah for 13 years from 1974, and are now based just outside the shire limits. Mandurah became our 'soul-home', after growing up in Perth. We did our first caravan run to the eastern states late last year and are preparing our next less ambitious trip for the near future. We chose a second-hand pop-top Coromal which has served us very well. We'll probably be travelling north next time but are not quite ready yet.
You won't see me posting a lot in the general section because there are folks on here with way more experience than I, so I tend to read and learn rather than throw in my two cents worth. There will always be a range of opinions here but most of it is quality advice.. apart from the odd 'difference' between disagreeing posters. But that's normal on a forum so don't let it put you off. The dust always settles very quickly.
I mostly just post a travel blog in the blog section to try and encourage other newbies to just go and do it! Our trip east was one of the great experiences of our lives. And if it wasn't for having a home base and being addicted to boat fishing, we'd have been caravanning a lot more since. But it's coming..
Because we're not quite ready to leave yet, we can't offer to accompany you just now. But I'm sure you will find this style of travelling another kind of heaven once you get over the first-time jitters... it doesn't take long! We just hope you stay well and have a great time! Maybe see you on the road sometime.
