Yep, great fan for sure. I have one set up on the wall at end of bed and I wired it direct to batteries with a slightly heavier wire instead of a plug-in system. Uses very little power and I have it on all night, most nights. Not cheap but well worth it.
You just reminded me, I must give it a clean.

Yep the Sirroco Caframo fans are the best ever - very low power draw - .04 amp in an hour on high speed, easy to install - we have four in the motorhome - never use the aircon, even if on power, fans are placed to cover bed, kitchen and seating area - highly recommend. When you are on 240v, the fans run from the battery system still, but as the other things, i.e. fridge, lights etc., are using 240v, you have no worries with having enough power. (think that is how it works) - they have a system where you can turn them to face the other way as well.
We have one of these fans...they are great.
Want to get another and not sure where we got it and how much it was....any ideas?

I got the latest version - MK II - bit stronger made - anyway cost $175 on ebay (UBULU) free delivery within a week. Marine shops have them, and some 12v or solar shops as well. - Whitworth Marine are on line, and often have them on special.

Same as other peoples recomendations Caframo Sirrocco. Just make sure you get the latest mode, The parent company had them manufactured in China. Not happy with the quality so returned the manufacturing home. Heavier wire and much better quality. Still lots of the old models about.

They need to be mounted on something so a board would work and wire a 12v plug in end of wire.
You could always get Strop to just stand there and hold it I spose :)

We have one mounted to a wall, and bought a 2nd which we haven't mounted. It simply has a lead with a 12v plug and we move it to wherever we need it. It isn't mounted on a board or anything, but we do need to put a piece of non slip rubber matting under it or it tends to 'walk' around.

Carafammo fan in bed room mounted on wall second wired up with a lead about a metre long cigarette plug on end always about 300 mm from SWMBO. LOL

I can attest to the value of the Sirocco 2 as well. My only wish for it would be for it to push a little more air through. I find the multi directional aspect great. All up, worth the high price.
For a two blade 12V fan I suspect the manufacturing cost is around $10 - even if it does have double axes.
Power wise: keep in mind there is nowt for nowt - if you want a fan to shift enough air to keep you cool then it will take energy to do that and I doubt there is a significant difference in efficiency between brands.

I have just fitted a sirrocco in our van. The base plate allows you to remove the fan from the wall mount or have it permanently fixed. I rejigged the power supply to a stereo pin plug and can take the fan off its mount for travel. I felt there was a bit too much leverage in the whole set up for travel on rough roads, so chose to have it removable. The fan just slots into the base plate and slides down to lock the key ways in place and good old gravity holds it in place.

Our Sirocco has a cigarette lighter plug and I mounted it to a wooden board so its portable.
Currently upgrading, and the new van will have one fitted in bed area, and the portable one will come with us too.
