I would like to set up an outback Gold Fossickers Expedition over the next few month in Queensland with interested parties. The trip does not necessarily need to happen this year. Is there anyone out there interested to help me organise such a trip please?
I am inviting any prospective members interested in joining a small group to initially come forward with their ideas and suggestions. Needed are person/s with prior metal detector knowledge and gold fossicking experience who would like to be part of a small group to spend time in the QLD outback. Experience with metal detectors and have some geology knowledge will form the basis of understanding what is required. Anyone with time and experience and is interested to show others 'how to do it' please step forward. It should be a lot of fun... so make yourself known to me and I can start the ball rolling with you to organise such a fun trip in the future. Gwynnie

Sorry to say that your proposal does not appeal very much. It sounds as though a few people with equipment and experience are going to be providing free tuition to strangers who have neither.
That, of itself, is not an issue - you'll find most prospectors are more than happy to help others but I'm not convinced I wish to drive into the bush and camp with a group of strangers and loan them my $5000 detector and socialise with them for X days.
Now: that could end up being a bundle of fun but... it could also end up being a disaster.
I applaud your spirit but I think you need to draw tighter limits. Perhaps make it a requirement that anyone attending owns a detector? That would show they have made a serious effort at least....

You are right in both the yes... & no aspect. Yes, the whole idea is to get like minded people together to start an open discussion in initially forming such a small group. No, it is not expected to use other people's equipment or transport as anyone who wishes to join the group will need to have their own necessary equipment as it will be self catering.
Initially it is also expected that the group will be no larger than 3-4 vehicles with all their own transport, food, accommodation and of course equipment. Plus experience with 4X4 driving in the outback and bush camping will be mandatory. I realise that organising such a trip will be very time consuming, hence I have just started an open discussion on this forum.
Also I consider it necessary to have further assistance as to the what,how,when and where in order to coordinate this, so some guidance by someone who is experienced in this field would be exceptional. (At this time it is only myself!) I look forward to holding further discussions.... Gwynniie

Hi Gwynnile I would love to do such a trip however we are still w.....ing ( I won't spell working on here in case DOUGWE reads this post ) and so only doing occasional trips yet , also being "Mexican" would prefer to start on the Vic goldfields , so good luck with your idea I hope it gets some takers .
