We are travelling from Brisbane to catch the Spirit of Tasmania from Melbourne in a couple of weeks time. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where we can do an overnighter close to the ferry.

Lots of stuff about this. Try "tasmania melbourne" in the search. You may or may not find what you need.

Hi,
Closest caravan park is Ashley Gardens. They well give you a map to show the way to the docks.

In February on our way over we spent a few days at Sth Werribee @ $30 pn with night before sailing at Discovery Park Melbourne.
On our return like many others we made a bee dive for the popular free camp at Little River. If we were doing it again we would have the night before at Sth Werribee or the free camp at Little River.
When you arrive in Tassie at Devonport head to Girdlestone Park same side of river that the ferry comes in. $10pn with toilets/water and dump point. Meals available if the footie club is training???,
Cheers

If you have to fill in time before boarding it use to be free parking on the Blvb, a lot of Vanners park there will waiting for the night crossing.
