Just be very aware and careful of the wind gusts in NSW at present . I came through a cutting doing 80 kph and the side wind near tipped our 6 ton motorhome over . Lucky there was enough room in lane to correct enough ! The gust wasn't long enough but lighter motorhome or vans could be in trouble !!

A good day to stay put.
The usual Ecca time westerlies have arrived in Brissy.
Wound up the blinds on my back deck & tightened the cover on the van.
A good day to sit in in the sun in my antique squatters chair & read a book.

Older type hatch covers cheap & easy to replace. Did mine recently.
Have a look at Caravans Plus web site. Or Caravan Pro. Just Google Caravan Hatches Au.

Decided to stay an extra day in Miles Qld.
Blowing a gale, got about 6 ks up the road when I changed my mind and returned to last night's camp. Very rough.

Coming down to Hillston from Cobar along the Kidman Way the last 70 kms was white knuckle driving with the gusty winds. We decided to stay 2 nights instead of 1 because of forecast windy weather again. It was a good decision, it was terrible. Moved on to Numurkah today in fairly calm conditions. Can't understand retired people risking their rigs & lives in atrocious weather?

Hi Keith & Judy,
Very wise. We would do the same. Better safe then sorry. There's always tomorrow.

12 months ago we were at the showgrounds at Burra SA. We got wind (sic) that the westerlys were to reach 100 kph. Luckily when building our 450kg tare van I added a heavy duty eyelet on each side of the van at the top near the roof top of an inbuilt rollbar.
We tied one side to a telegraph pole, the other to a large tent peg, left the van hooked up to the car. At the storms peak our washing was horizontal and a bumping afternoon but secure. On the road we found our friction type anti sway unit invaluable with side wind/road trains. $40 gumtree s/hand. Stay safe.
