Hi all. We are heading up the Kidman Way NSW at the end of next week. Fri and Sat night in Devenish then heading for Lake Wyangan for a few nights to explore Griffith and other towns. Then thinking of Pub at Mt Hope and Bourke for a few nights each and exploring the rest of the Kidman up to the Q border. Does anyone have any other suggestions ? Any "must not miss" bits ? The boss is a keen photographer, and I mean KEEN ! Thanks in advance. Col

Lake Cargelligo on the Lachlan Valley Way. Is a pretty place. We found it by accident when following the Kidman way a few years ago.
It is situated to the East Of Hillston. Worth a Google and see what you think
Cheers

Cheers mate. Looks like a nice spot with some good free camps around. A detour methinks. Col

Pulled into Hillston CP this afternoon mainly to enjoy a great Chinese meal again at the Hillston Club after driving down the Kidman Way from Cunnamulla in the past few days.
Mt Hope, a deserted mining town has population of 15 people from memory. The pub has a few spots to camp, not much to see or do, mining relics. Truckers pull in for a pie.
We're not really fans of Bourke or Cobar but some enjoy their visits. This time we pretty much drove straight along the Kidman at other times we've stayed in Cobar for a few days.
Nice free camp on the south side of Lachlan River (Rest Area on the north) 40 kms north of Hillston. A large travelling stock route stopover. We didn't stop because it's grey clay & looked a
bit wet, easy to get bogged.

If you're into wildlife, a visit to the Altina Wildlife Park is a must. About 11km southeast of Darlington Point, on the Sturt Highway.

A few years back we stayed at the Darlington Point CP. Cheap & friendly, courtesy bus picks up from CP, good meals low cost at the Club.
Lovely fruit (citrus) at the stall on the left of the Kidman Way as you approach Griffith from the south.
Goolgowi West Rest Area is a good overnighter 1km West of the Kidman Way/Mid Western Hwy intersection or you could stay at the community CP & enjoy a meal at the friendly pub.
