South Australia is bracing for several days of severe winter weather, with flood alerts, gale warnings and road closures for areas including Adelaide and the neighbouring Mount Lofty Ranges.
'
Forecast heavy rain for Adelaide and the hills region over the weekend has prompted the State Emergency Service (SES) to announce sandbags will be made available from six depots between 10:00am and 2:00pm on Saturday.
Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) forecaster Matt Collopy said they were set to be the most severe conditions so far this winter.
"It is certainly a very wet and windy weekend expected. There's a series of fronts to move through ... a really strong one moving through on Saturday evening and into Sunday," he said.
"This is certainly the strongest one we've seen this winter."
Heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and even some hail are expected, Mr Collopy said.
Be careful on the roads People. !!!

We're all up in QLD enjoying 22-27 degree temperatures, swimming in the pool & thinking who would be stupid enough to be camping in SA at this time of the year.

Quite happy here in SA 24deg C in the lounge room with a wood fire (free wood from back paddock). Wind & rain not a problem, that's out side.

Hi Matildatraveler, Live at Yorketown on the Yorke peninsular. Yes it is breezy & wet outside but its not as windy as it was in about January when the local church was unroofed & that was summertime. At least the cold & wet has killed off most of the mouse plague. Our daughter lives in Cairns & its too hot & humid for me. Daryl.

Hi Daryl & Leslie,
Great spot the Yorke Peninsula, I spent a few days looking around your location last year. Picked up a few beautiful blue swimmer crabs off the Ardrossan Jetty too, while there!! Thought I might try to post spectacular photos I took with my daughter at the Henley Beach Jetty today , cold, wet & wild! There were about ten (10) surfer dudes running along the jetty with their boards dropping onto the huge waves off the landing, a great sight to see young people making the most of what nature supplied!
