Hi all .. Do anyone know of large vans with a seperate bedroom and slide outs?
we are wanting to upgrade and have been considering five wheelers but before going down that road further I want to really investigate if another caravan will fulfill our requirements ... That being a bedroom that can be closed off from the living area and a large lounge area with plenty of bench space in the kitchen.
i saw a very good plan in Cell Caravans but the Aust importer has since closed doors I believe, so, in summary we want a 25 - 30 ft van with separated bedroom, plenty of slide outs, large living areas and bench space ...
We intend to live full time in it for at least five years or so. ...... Can anyone point us in the right direction? Cheers

our 23' Roma Elegance has that layout - toilet and basin and separate shower in middle of the van is great for permanent living and I believe they now do it with a slide out. There's a nice one for sale on 'caravan sales' - no slide out but the pics show how long the bench space is

Hi Avago.
My van has a front Bedroom, centre ensuite then kitchen and rear lounge. I have sliding doors on either side of the ensuite.
Works a treat. My wife can watch TV and I can go to bed if required; especially if I have driven all day and she as passenger.
However, to get my desired layout i had to build my own van. 23ft, 2160kg on 3.5kg suspension.
It was a great journey.
Regards.

We are in Kununarra at present and yesterday we had a look at a 26ft fifth wheeler and the way the bedroom could be closed off from the rest of the van was really good ... The toilet door simply swung out and caught on a catch that closed off the entire area .... So good if one of us was restless and couldn't sleep and were in the living area, and the other in the bedroom.
I will continue to look around ... Our 25ft Jayco Silverline is terrific in every way excepting this one requirement ... I think that the wet areas (toilet, bathroom) definitely need to be between the bedroom and the living area in order to close it off properly ... Ours can be visually closed off with a curtain but that doesn't cut it really ...
Just some thoughts, cheers

Trulux 5th wheelers in Melbourne has what you want, but they may have gone out of business. We were looking at some of their designs with a view to buy.

Just had a look at the Caravan World on line review. An impressive van & great layout. I really like the Club lounges. You must be pleased with your purchase.
What do you pull it with? A Cruiser?

no actually it is with a Volkswagen Touareg
it is more efficient and comfortably and legally pulls the van
Touareg is one of the quiet achievers
a real 3,500 kg towing plus a load in the rear and with self levelling suspension means no WDH and it does not need it as the electronics takes care of it all
cruise at a true 94km/ hr all day and still get better than 13.5 litres/ 100 km
van is ATM 3380kg with a 550kg payload

Just been to camping/caravan show in Adelaide - heaps of interiors would meet your requirements. Google manufacturers and look at floor plans is easiest.

That Taureg? may be "legally" legal. On paper.
But a short wheelbase like that with 3.5 tons of it's arse will swing well when load takes hold of it. Believe me. Regardless of engine power.
That SIZE vehicle is a 2.5 ton Safely. Rig. Maximum. LESS. If it Physically weighs less. PS What does the Taureg actually weigh??.
The Net says 2 145 kg.
No way I'd put 2.5 ton behind 2.1. Never mind 3 or 3.5ton.
The trailer WILL always control the tug.
As anybody with towing experience will tell you.
NEVER. Have a trailer weighing MORE than your tug behind it.
Europe is 10% less By law. as is US I believe.
My van is 1.85 ton. D.Max "legally" TOWS 3.5 ton. (My ute goes 2.5 to 2.7 ton over weighbridge loaded.) and I tow under 2 ton.
Most recommend 2.5 ton MAX. Behind ANY ute (As long as a decent load in rear\tray of ute first.)or small (SUV) vehicle.
The First weigh station, will weigh you. weigh van. and you'll be parked on side of road. Nowadays.
they getting keen on sticking to law nowadays.

not wanting to get into a long winded discussion, but suggest that before you start judging, you may wish to get some facts correct first
i presume you advocate a LC200 as the perfect rig?
check which has
longer wheelbase
wider track
shorter overhang of towball from axle
and I think you may be surprised. Yes tare weight is marginally less but electronics can make up for this
in in any event if I am legal it is my choice and I do not need to be lectured to by your opinions
