I just want to thank everyone who partook in the BEST PIE a week back. ( Big Rig) for NOTING the Pie in The Sky pit stop at Cowan.
I jumped on the Grom this morning and took her for a spin down to Brooklyn on the old Pacific Hwy north of Sydney.
I had seen This Must Stop Years back, But never associated it with Meat Pies.
On my return trip I pulled into pit lane.
All the bikes and vintage cars. The place was full of GN's Plus me and the Grom.
I tried the Steak and Mushroom pie on its own. Very happy chappy. Then I noted you can add mash and pea's on a plate. Coffee & tea, So impressed.
I'm taking Lambie their next Monday for lunch @ 1.30pm.
Yes I confessed to Lambie, as to the days happening's, As Lambie was off shopping with our Daughter.
Its on the old Pacific Hwy just north of Cowan. A great view of the valleys and water looking north towards the Hawksberry River.
If you happen to be passing by, call in and say goodday.

That just up ended the memory bank, from 1967 till 1984, I ran my truck up and down there, Gosford to Sydney or Newcastle some days I was so poor I could not afford the tolls, so old road it was. I really did not mind, the toll road was about 25 minutes quicker.
Next time we come south from Brisbane iin couple of months time, we will stay the night in the freeby at the Hawksberry Bridge and cruise up the old road for a nostalgic run and have morning tea there.
At present in Austria, fly out via Perth for a week and then onto home in Brisbane. There is no pies here in Innsbruck and I am bustjng for some Ozzie junk food. I
I hope Perth Central has a pie shop. I have some currency to spend.

We travelled many times on the old Pacific Hwy. from Newcastle to Sydney before the freeway was completed we never really stopped much at Brooklyn as the most popular place for travellers doing that trip was back at the halfway mark - the Oak at Peats Ridge. Brooklyn is a beautiful spot on the river but it wasn't as easy to pull off the road and was a bit too close to Sydney (you were nearly to Hornsby by then). Can't comment on the quality of the pies but thanks Jim for the tip I will pull in and try one the next time that I am down that way.
cheers BB

This famous Brooklyn / Cowan landmark is shown in the Australian Movie Lantana
When the original owner opened this up I scored the Pies 12 out of 10 as they were exceptional. and always fresh baked.
Unfortunately new owners have changed the system and the Pies whilst till Very Good I can only score them 8 out of 10.
However its still worth a visit an we still stop off for a pie occasionally but no where near as often as the old days.
Very windy road and there have been a couple of deaths right outside on the bend in front of Pie in the Sky so take it easy !

Gee's the hevens opened and down she came. Nice to see some rain just the same.
A few regulars were there, as were a few tradies. No bikes because of the above.

Then we shared one apple and one apricot pie with ice cream. Yumooooo.
