Hi All, Getting back to caravaning after a 30 year break, wow have caravans improved in the meantime. We developed a list of places along the area where we lived before and the areas we frequented that was friendly for stopping with a caravan.
Like, this town has parallel parking close to a coffee shop or bakery, the next town has diagonal parking and you have to walk 2 km to get anything. Or a town had a nice park with toilets and close to shops.
So does anyone know of a website or app that has already been developed that we could use.
Lastly on a similar vein, have caravan parks been rated for things like ease of entry, ease of manoeuvring inside the park and size of sites. Recently stayed at Port Maquarie with the motorbike and found the entry to the park extremely congested and difficult to get to, felt sorry for the caravan guys. Inside the park it was great but the entry was a real shambles (take note Port Maquarie Council) .
Soon off on another adventure along the coast from Gosford up north.

Solar Panel on roof. Battery inside. Water tank under and Porta pottie.
Find the off site camps There's plenty listed.
get away from the "parks\money grabbers. and save some money.
Plus find out where everything is from other like minded travellers.
It's a different lifestyle OUTSIDE Parks.
Maybe one night a week to check things over.
Fully charge battery's. Washing machines, etc.
Then off again.
Yes. The vans are different.
I was thinking recently,about my first van in '63.
Compared to todays.
Difference plus. Hey.
But seriously.
Try the outside of parks life. see on here. Lots do it Happily.

Welcome to the gang Megafishaholic, enjoy here and out in the playground.
I have seen similar listings in some towns on 'Wikicamps'. It is user friendly and you put in what you want so you could add info like you talk about. If you don't know what 'Wikicamps' is, it is an app for your smartphone or similar, the best under $10 you will ever spend and I tell you that for free.

What one would call friendly could be the opposite for someone else and visa versa. A list of friendly towns would only be someones opinion.

When I first go to a strange town, I head for the Tourist Information Center
They usually have an area, you can park up for an hour or so in a caravan
They are usually the best people to ask about the town, as they are locals
The only exception I know of is Perth in WA, as for whatever reason, the Tourist Information Center, is in the middle of the city, where there are absolutely, no caravan bays

Welcome Mega.
We sit one or two nights a week in a place with power. A good vharge up on your battery with a 12-25 amp charger helps it along. Fill tanks etc. But we try to stay away from crowds and support small towns.

Welcome to the group you will not be sorry with the Wikicamp app. Showgrounds and recreation grounds are also great places to stay they have showers toilets power water dump point pet friendly and have plenty of room and much cheaper than caravan parks.

Welcome . Often use google earth also . Usually before leaving home . Or have WIFI . It's often not the walk . It's the security of leaving things while your gone !!

Most time if you use Recreation and Showground you would need to stock up before hand , Has they are not often close to shops .
