G'day onenut59, and a welcome from us to the forums. I assume from your post you have an off road van?
Don't forget to try the two ongoing games here - 'Who is This' in the 'I Digress' section and 'Pick this Place' in the 'General' Section - a great source to find new places to visit.

A welcome from me also, onenut59
I have never been on any bush roads, while travelling
Hopefully someone who has been on that road, will come along, and say a few words

The Gibb River Rd varies from Atrocious, Boggy, Rutty, Bit Rough, Just Graded - Check conditions closer to travel (Road and Weather). Speed and tyre condition are the always important factors that will dictate a pleasant trip or nightmare.

I second that advice. If you decide to stick to the bitumen, then the Bungle Bungles is well worth a look. When we went there caravans weren't allowed, but 4wd's and camper trailers were.

Welcome to the forum onenut59, as said by possum3 the Gibb river Road can be shocking as it was last time I drove it with 4X4 only, I personally would not take a caravan that you want to keep up the Gibb river road, that said if it has been graded recently and no bad weather it may be worth considering but you need to check with local council or Police first. This road has the reputation of being the worst road in the country for destroying tyres.
Good luck and enjoy yourself out in the big playground.
