Agree Jay&Dee but it is in 'Free and low cost camping' mate. I just know Balgal Beach is in QLD.

Balgal Beach is North of Douglas.
First time I went there back in'70's. early.
They had a Holiday camp there.
Fixed tents up on frames.
With permanent staff climbing the Coconut palms.
I got a 'spear in my bed one day. Right through the pillow.
Scary stuff. But magic place. Kids loved it. went back 3 or 4 times.
Forms Southern side of river mouth if you look on Google maps.
( Daintree river mouth.)
Also GREAT fishing. Just watch for croc's.
Was great little private? van Park at Northern end.
at end of "Toad Crunchers" run.
The whole road moved in Toad breeding season.
Spent my first ever X-Mas in July there.
Highly recommended as one of the better spots in Q,land.
Along with the BEST.
Cape Trib.(Ulation) Take a walk along there sometimes.
Di's all time fave. They really DO meet there.

and we used to hire the little sailing cat's and tow lines across the mouth.
NOTHING better. than watching the smoke trail of a BIG spanno, streaking in.
60-80plus pounders. seriously.
In those days.
and literally dragging stern of little cat sideways when they struck.
Heaven.
And you lot think you got anything down there.
Warm Rain. Toadies. Croc's. river snakes.
XXXX Beer.

I went to the one north of Townsville a few weeks ago and it was very crowded but looked like a nice spot.
Did not stay and noted that almost all areas had "no camping" with the exception being a small area opposite the hotel complex and boat ramp.
Be great for a visit if another area was opened up.

There are a couple up from us from weipa just bought a block of land with a shed on it in this lil town.

Just did a search on Wiki Camps and it says tents only but when I was there there were caravans staying there as well.
Maybe against the advice on signs....I didnt really look.
Gypsynolmate, mabe your son should sign into wiki camps and promote his new venture.
That is probably a quick way to get "out there" with the information.

This is the Mystic Sands Golf Resort, and it is DEFINETLY NOT TENTS only Self Contained Caravans & Motorhomes.
As mentioned further info on the appropriate site, free or low cost camping.

Geoff, there is two sections at Balgal Beach, one is for vans and the other is for tents which is a little further down the beach from the vans. Wiki has two seperate listings.

Yes, us locals know where it is - but at this time of the year, it's pointless going there as like Saunders Beach, it's difficult to get a park. We'll go there to get a good feed of fish & chips after the sweat, the mozzies & sand flies have drive the nomads south!

We just stayed there for 2 nights. Dougwe is right there are 2 camps. One for tents the other (next to the boat ramp) is for caravans etc. We arrived about 10am and there were about 4 sites available. When we left 48 hours later at about 10am there was probably about another 4 sites available. We did notice a van pull up and wait at 8am sitting waiting for a site and got in but I wonder where he/she was the night before. Anyway...a great place to stay but prepare yourself against the midges/sand flys....I got bitten badly.
They now have on board a great Chef, Charlie. They have meals in Restaurant Wed/Thurs/Frid/Sat lunch & Dinner.

I visit the the club each year when staying at Rollingstone, I play golf at Mystic sands and it will be nice to get a good feed...I will rate it when I am there the last week of October.
