The 3M strips will not stay "Stuck" to the vinyl interior wall surfaces of our van - Genuine "Velcro" however does, and will support a reasonable weight - maybe you could attach a pelmet with Velcro.

my experience of 'sticking' anything to the van walls has resulted in it eventually falling off and sometimes taking the wall panel with it. I'd stick and screw brackets or use spring loaded rods

Yes, I have put curtains up as well as the slide up/down blinds. Adds a personal touch and looks great IMO anyway. I just used stretchy wire with the hook and eye system, works well.

I also took the heavy wooden door off from the ensuite and put a curtain there as well that blends in with the other curtains. I am on my own so might not suit a couple but I really don't see why not?

I had read on forums where a number of people had some issues with the blinds not working properly, so before we embarked on our first trip I had made a curtain, sewing Velcro to the curtain and had taken some stick-on Velcro to go on the frame. Never had to use it, but I don't like the lack of privacy with the large windows.
I have a couple of the command removable hooks up for several months now and so far, still attached, which has surprised me considering we live in Cairns. I am tossing up about screwing into the wall, as I thought I would be screwing into thin air.
The spring loaded rods sounds a good idea, but they may prevent us from opening the wardrobe doors, I will check if they would fit.

Dougwe, I had noticed a few months when you were concerned about your combo weight, that you had removed the ensuite door. Good idea. Hope you back in Townsville enjoying the winter days.

I have pelmets over the windows & screwed the little curtain rod clips to those. Curtains just make the van that little bit more homie. Have put a few photos & a couple of pictures up with the stick on Velcro. They seem to be hanging on quite well too.

Hello Stuart-Jan, I have made fully insulated curtains and used Command removal hooks. I certainly agree with you about the appearance, the van doesn't look so much like a shoe box!
Putting my hand against the vinyl blind I can feel quite a bit of heat through the window, however, with the curtain I cannot feel any heat transferring inside the van. Hopefully this will also be a benefit in cold weather.
At least when it is hot, we can have privacy without blocking any breeze.

Depending on your window frame you could get a 8-10mm rod and weld lugs on it. The lugs gets screwed into the frame. Then you know there is something to screw to.

Thank you for the feedback. The Command removal hooks are working well. We have used them in our home to hang photos frames, and have been successful here in FNQ. I was trying to avoid screwing into the walls, just in case we sell the van, as some RVers may choose to remove the curtains.
