Sheesh has abyone been to original van or in my case motorhome manufacturer to get fixed, upgrad or just checked ? The BS they tell you !! My inverter charger is one unit . The charger side 60 amp doesn't work . Never had for 2 years . But I though it would be nice to have the luxury of a fast charger when we start the generator when free camping . The 7 amp I bought while over in WA is not up to task ! It got us by at the time . ahh !! The quotes I got to the unit was over $6000 . I'm happy with the 2000 watt inverter that STILL works . A 40- 60 amp fast charger is way cheaper as in the $100's. Then I was pointed out to fit a DC -DC charger ? I said then truck batteries are right beside the house batteries and in any case I'm not intending on starting a 6.5 litre diesel to charge when I have a 55000 watt quiet diesel generator!! He said well it disconnects and assists in keeping truck batteries from going flat ! I said there's a voltage sensitive relay connected to bridging contact any way !! Lol . Are these guys sales people or experienced people who know what they are talking about !! People go to tradies who know their stuff . Also their labour charges ! $150 an hour plus parts you buy have about 50 % added !! $5 or $6k to fit a compressor fridge ! I'm getting it done for half that at a family business! Another thing why do they think abything over 5 or 6 years should be replaced ? Ohh that's right they are sales selling new. All they wanted to do is sell or fit exhorbitant prices !

we took our Roma van (8 yrs old) back to Roma to get a split system that we had purchased fitted - were happy with the price so not all manufacturers rip you off.

It's the dealership syndrome - vans, cars, whatever. They create a perception of being better, but in reality it's about premium rates for often inferior work. Once the warranty is out, so am I!

I take them to the tyre fitter, in the back of the Corolla, and the above fitted $10 each. Go Figure

The thing is the way they talk to people . We have a generator so WHY do we need more than 2000 watt inverter ? If we need more ? We simply start the geni ! Btw it's a built in Onan and VERY quiet. So why try and sell us a hell expensive inverter / battery charger when a $200 charger does the job . Are people getting dumber ?? Motor home or caravan no difference !! Lol I can handle the banter though !! Different requirements for each individual set up or couple . Was told a cassett toilet was better ! I tell you I've had both and I know the flush system with black water is best . Takes room but not an issue on Explorer . Plenty of under floor room . I'm booked into a place over Windsor NSW to fit new compressor fridge / freezer . Now I've upgraded solar and batteries storage . I've never come across anyone who has gone back to 3 way ?? The current draw is hardly any more than our 60l freezer .. All good off my soap box now !!
I have 1/ 110 AH battery and Gas and in 10 year have not need any more , Can buy a lot of LPG for money a lot of people spend on toys .

You want to talk about getting ripped off?! $250 to fit a rooftop tent! We will pay, because we can't lift 60kg up there by ourselves (I have a bung shoulder, can't even lift 5kg above chest height). But really - $250?!

Where are you Rosita? Surely there are some of us around that would be willing to help lift it up for you. Charging you $250.00 for that is outrageous!
