A 64-year-old man has died after being run over by his own vehicle while trying to uncouple his caravan on the Gold Coast.
Police said it appeared the man had been trying to unhitch his van from a 4WD when the vehicle started rolling down a slight hill in Coomera.
A police spokesperson said the man tried to stop the vehicle, but it rolled over him and he was pinned underneath.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
This is a terrible tragedy, my condolences to all his loved ones....Kisha

Most unfortunate, however, totally avoidable.
We see mishaps of this type involving older drivers all the time.

Very tragic indeed, but age is irrelevant. Such mishaps are not the exclusive domain of "older" drivers. The majority of mishaps are unavoidable but they still happen to drivers of ALL ages, and to think otherwise only induces complacency.

Age is a factor.
