Yep all the above. My daugher decided she wanted/needed a small trailer for camping gear so I started looking for what 'dad' reckons would be good? Find a nice second hand 6x4 with removeable builder box on at a real good price? Spare wheel, jockey wheel, two lift up sides and 6 month rego. NOPE not what she wants. Wants cage
not box so she can remove if needed, yeh, fine but box can come off too, nope. Gone two days later.
Ok, looking looking looking, at second hand 'rubbish', she found a new one and got prices. Shut the front gate! Are they costly these days. She then found a new 6x4 gal one a lot cheaper at the big green shed, yep that's right, BGS, so off we went Sunday to get. Nup, can't take cos not registered. Had to pay though. Monday I was at Rego mob in Townsville, $131 later came out with plate. I only pay around $58 down in Mexico, phew. Back to the BGS. Hooked up and asked for jockey wheel and spare wheel, told my daughter not suplied but forgot to tell me. Oh well they will be easy to get second hand.
Nup, new jockey wheel and 6 phone calls later found a new rim and tyre to suit.
Still no cage yet, that's also extra?
Still all up will be a lot cheaper than trailer mobs here in Townsville but far from impressed with service from BGS.
Daughter, grandkids and friends going camping for 5 nights at end of this week? I think I need that time to de-stress.

Back when we lived in Townsville (90-00's) we bought a Jaguar that the seller had purchased in Melbourne on Ebay - he flew from TSV to Melbourne to pick it up, bought 3 new trailers which were cheap down there, stacked 2 on top of one trailer, towed back to TSV, sold the Jag to me (profit $5000) and the trailer (profit $600 ea). He did this for a living...one deal a month!

The link provided shows a 7x5. The 6x4 my daughter wanted didn't have that luxury Peter.
Good idea Denis.

Do 6X4 trailers have to be registered in QLD Doug ? In VIC they are exempt. Just wondering what the case would be if some one from VIC was to tow their 6x4 into QLD .

Frames for trailers are reasonable on eBay . Jockey wheels are at most spare parts places .

Yes Landy they do according to the QLD rego mob that I went to and spoke about. They also said that if the trailer is over 750kg it has to have a road worthy/safety certificate when selling.
No problems now, the 6x4 trailer my daughter now has is registered, plate fixed in place, spare wheel fitted and Jockey wheel in action, all good. It all worked out cheaper than getting the same size from a trailer mob here in downtown Townsville. Just a bit of mucking around for two days to get all the bits and bobs done.
As I said earlier, the kids and her with friends and their set up are going away on Sunday for a few nights and my daughter is very happy to have the trailer to load everything in now and not on top of and in the car.

Ahh...you sound like a great dad Doug. Will hopefully meet/catchup with you next week before we leave on 3/7. For Landy...you don't have to register your trailer in Vic IF you don't take the trailer outside of the state. If you do it needs to be registered.
How,
