Not anything new , Lot of people all over country are getting sick and tired of grey nomads who think it there right to go and do what they want .

Yep, nomads can be a pain in the ar#e. We recently went to an ag supply business in Hay to get a gas bottle filled.
As we went in a grey nomad came storming out holding a gas bottle. He was yelling ''DON'T THEY F***ING KNOW THAT WE'RE ON TOUR!''
They'd told him that he would have to wait 20 minutes to get his bottle filled, he stormed out with it empty.
On the rear of his caravan was a big sign BILL & JEAN ON TOUR. He drove off like a maniac in a 50kph zone.
That's one of many stories we have about old farts.
Wrinklies behaving badly, there are quite a few around.

I have found that most are pretty good. I usually receive/give a wave when passing on the road and have always received assistance if required when camped. The only real issues I have found are when some try to take control at free camps, deciding who can park where and claiming rights on spaces for friends travelling two hours behind or deciding that the whole camp needs to listen to the generator symphony.
The real problems are with the terminally boring. The ones that within two minutes of meeting feel the need to tell me how important they were in the workforce, how they are self funded retirees, how many houses they have and how smart their grandchildren and children are. Cop one of those next to you for a day or so and see how you are travelling.

Having been involved in tourism management in the Kimberleys for many years it is not a new problem......
Neighbouring stations to us repeatedly had issues with errant travellers......not really of the GN variety who are far more responsible and appreciative of the environment.
But locals and those with gung ho rigs along with back packers seemed to be more of a problem.
Never ending problem ........for a long long time

We were at Wyandra Outback QLD for a night last week. The campground filled up with wrinklies & about 4pm most of them were walking around with a drink in their hand looking for someone to talk to (bore to snorts).
We deliberately sat in our caravan & had a happy hour drink together, if we'd gone outside we would have been ''collared'' immediately.

I hope I never get to a point where I do not have, or cannot find, a little time to spend sociallising with one of our Nomad kin.
May I never hide, to avoid being polite. KB

We're polite but sometimes like to avoid listening to people life stories.

I've noticed the whingers becoming more vocal of late, unsure what purpose the process serves, guess it makes some feel better.

Why are people assuming that this article was referring to Grey Nomads as being the ones reponsible for this type of behaviour ? No doubt there are a few out there who don't fully consider the outcome of their actions but I would have thought that the older generation would have been a little more inclined to act responsibly. IMHO you are unlikely to change someone else's behaviour by complaining about it on a forum so the best course of action would be to take responsibility for your own actions and don't just assume that everyone else is a problem.

I always like the way that the "wrinklies", "Grey nomads", and "old" people always seem to be about 5 years older than we are, whatever our age happens to be!

Good Luck.
Wiki Camps at fault is my guess.
Watch and wait... it can only get worse.

My opinion, is that I for one, do not blame the owners, for what they have done
Unfortunately we, the (responsible travellers), of this forum, are all tarred with the same brush, as the irresponsible type people
I can see the day when the strewn rubbish in free camps, is used as ammunition, by those who would wish to close them
