Finally finished updating the new 2nd hand caravan thought I would share.Taken it on a trip from Coffs via Mungo Brush at Myall Lakes, through the coast to Melbourne and back up through Freeway. Worked really well, despite all the rain we have had.

Wasn't too much problem, John just undid the long seat from the wall, cut the aluminium frame shorter, to allow better passage past the angled shower & also to match the finished size of the double fold table & then screwed it down using right angle brackets. (not the flimsy plastic blocks Jayco had).

Cut a back from palette ply, screwed it on using existing angle, fitted a plastic moulding to cover the fitted vinyl edges; then cut new seats from the palette & screwed & hinged them.

Made a covering for the mudguard & new drop flap cupboards to hold condiments & chargers etc for tablets/phones, used 9mm marine ply as it wasn't much dearer than the 12mm standard & was a much better finish & lighter.

Moved fire extinguisher to seat back near door & converted drop down flap door on end of seat into a drawer to match the other seat.

Cut original table to make double fold table, (used off-cut for a shelf), used recessed piano hinges to keep continuous join when opened up.

Stained exposed ply with baltic pine stain to match original colour of wood, fitted exact same Jayco secure catches, (bought from China on ebay for about $6 each Jayco & all others in Aus. wanted over $30), got antique butterfly surface hinges from Bu'gs, weren't much cheaper on ebay.

Fitted twin dual USB outlets under table tapped off the back of the outside 12v outlet (bought motor bike outlets from ebay) & got sparky friend to fit double pole PP's, (did the same at bedheads & behind TV).

Finally put on sticky backed vinyl bamboo flooring; (found out this needs to be glued as not designed for vertical surfaces or bouncing around in a caravan).

Only real tip, apart from vinyl, is to cut the drop down door sizes AFTER the cushions are made, allowed for tight fitting upholstery which did not happen due to thick rigid outdoor fabric & have to squash seat back to open those doors.

The conversion is very clever and much more practical than original Jayco design.

Great ideas there that I will use when I tackle this project over Summer.

I just love all the extra storage space and "Café Seating Comfort".
