Have just bought a trail a mate anti theft kit which enables the base plate to be securely locked up on the A Frame to elimimate having to remove. Has anyone used one, and do you travel with the mate still on and attached.

Hi Maxy,
Yes I have the Anti Theft Kit fitted and travel with the mate still attached. Just make sure you have the mate set up high on your A frame to ensure the plate is well clear of the road when you retract it ready for travelling. Also be aware that the mate will add approximately 7 - 8 kg to your ball weight.
Happy and safe travels.

Hope you have one of Molly's kids. or something else to keep your hearts full (They better than kids at our age).
I have cats instead of dogs for last 23 yrs (Cornish Rex breed)
Actually a lot easier to travel with. less hassles. NO barking. NO "poopy bags". AND. NOT in your bloody face 24\7.
They have a lot of independence time to themselves. No comparison I reckon.
Compare these to dogs.
Specially those yapping things.
OH.
Coupla bigger "moggies" in there 2 OK.

Hi Macka17, Not on the site too much but thanks for your kind words about Molly. English ****er Spaniels are such wonderful dogs. But since she has gone we are now travelling fulltime for a few years. We think that we might get another one once we finish travelling. Safe travels to you.

Thanks for the reply. The intention is to travel with it on, but have not tried as yet, and wondering if anyone had done and if they encountered any issues.

I replaced the locking screw up handle which is found on jockey wheel clamps with bolts with a allen key head.
I suppose a theif could have the right size allen key in their back pocket maybe.

We travel with the trail a mate attached, all that I have is a curly cord lock from the green shed,it goes through the hole were the handle fits and then round the chassis.just make sure the Jack is as high as possible in the clamp and I also put a hockey strap through the D clip,on the base foot, and around the Jack because the leg fell down once so better to be safe than sorry.
just movin dust ,travel safe Trevor

Thanks everyone for the info, sounds like travelling with it secured will be ok. Doing the half lap shortly - anything to make life easier sounds good.
