Hi, I was wondering what Cumberdoon Way was like from Walgett to Warren as I have an Avan Ovation Motorhome 2 wheel drive 8 metres long. Are there lots of trucks and is it a safe route. It looks like a very picturesque route via Currinda ?

Have not been down the Warren Carinda Rd but last Christmas we to the Carinda Rd as we wanted to go to Nyngan. Nyngan Rd Was washed out so continued to Warran. A fair bit of old patched road and slowing right down at cattle grids. Not much truck trafic on that trip.
Not sure which of the two routes you are calling Cumbeerdoon Way. The Warren Carinda Rd takes you past the pub where you could park for the night and shower if you ate there. Good pub tucker and great people when we were there.
Should add that most heavy with trucks during grain harvest which is finished by December.

Hi Splottboy
Having a look at my maps, I would think it would have a lot of unsealed road, I have never needed to travel along the Cumberdoon Way but I would suspect that some heavy tranports would use it, instead of going via Gilgandra.
Thats interesting, I am at present away from my home twenty and the one driver who I think would answer your question is also overseas enjoying retirement.

Did some research and what you are calling the Cumberdoon Way appears to be the Carinda Rd between Wallget and Carinda. When we last went over it in early December 2016 there were sections of the road being resealed due to all the flooding out west. Other wise I considerd it a good country rd. Some sections patch but by no means real bad and we had the Territory and the 13 ft van.
Once you get to Carinda you have the two Rds to Warren, you stay on the rd and do not turn into town or turn into town and follow the rd past the pub Which is the Carinda Warren Rd.

We travelled that road 2 years ago, it was reasonable & didn't have much traffic. We stayed at Willie Retreat near the Macquarie Marshes to do some wildlife photography.
The river & marshes sometimes overflow the road in wet periods as it's quite a low lying area. Best to check on the NSW road conditions website. You should be OK. http://willieretreatmacquariemarshes.com.au/

Thanks everyone, I will use another route to get eventually to Broken Hill, probably via Gilgandra
